Wie ich auf TeamClimate aufmerksam geworden bin
Vor 3 Jahren habe ich mich zum ersten Mal mit dem Thema CO2-Ausgleich von Flügen auseinandergesetzt und bin damals auf das Wiener Start-up Mindful Mission gestoßen. Zufälligerweise ist das Team damals kurz darauf auf mich zugekommen und wir haben begonnen, uns auszutauschen und gemeinsam Projekte umzusetzen. Aus Mindful Mission wurde vor einiger Zeit TeamClimate, um dem Projekt einen eingängigeren Namen zu geben und den Team-Gedanken mehr in den Fokus zu rücken. Denn Klimaschutz funktioniert nur, wenn wir alle an einem Strang ziehen.
Warum auch ihr euch für den monatlichen Schutz unserer Erde entscheiden solltet
Wie ihr bestimmt wisst, ist das globale Ziel, den Temperaturanstieg auf 1,5 Grad zu limitieren. Damit das gelingt, dürften wir alle bis zum Jahr 2100 nicht mehr als 0,7 Tonnen CO2 pro Jahr ausstoßen. Aber: selbst, wenn wir uns vegan ernähren, nicht mehr fliegen oder Auto fahren, liegt der durchschnittliche Ausstoß bei rund 3,2 Tonnen pro Jahr. Durch den Ausgleich unseres CO2-Ausstoßes mit TeamClimate setzen wir unseren CO2-Fußabdruck auf null und haben damit die Chance, die Klimakrise tatsächlich zu bekämpfen.
Der Ausgleich soll natürlich keine Ausrede dafür sein, nicht auch gleichzeitig an der Reduktion unseres CO2-Ausstoßes zu arbeiten. Weiterhin ist es wichtig, auf öffentliche Verkehrsmittel zu setzen, Flugreisen zu reduzieren, Plastikmüll im Alltag einzusparen, den Konsum von tierischen Produkten zu minimieren, nachhaltige Stromanbieter zu wählen usw. Klimaschutzprojekte und Zertifizierung
Durch euren monatlichen Beitrag unterstützt ihr internationale Klimaschutzprojekte, die durch unabhängige Dritte geprüft wurden. Das Projekt in Peru wurde beispielsweise durch den Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) zertifiziert und hat sogar zwei Goldmedaillen in der Climate Community und Biodiversity Aliance erhalten (CCBA).
